Job Description
Job Summary:   
Operate machines safely and efficiently to complete one or more processes toward the manufacture/assembly of exhaust components to customer specifications. Perform as an active/contributing team member by supporting and performing all the tasks within a cell group. Ability to work frequent overtime, including extended daily shifts and Saturdays and/or Sundays.

  • Perform as a contributing team member of a cellular operating group, which requires the ability to follow work instructions, learn, work constructively with fellow team members/leadership, and perform basic machine preventative maintenance. Set-up and operate machines and to be able to rotate to all workstations within each cell.
  • Employee must be able to handle materials and tools, operate machines, assemble and inspect all product of varying shape, sizes and weights.
  • Employee must perform the above within acceptable quality, quantity, performance and safety standards.
  • Perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on each machine to assure machines are in safe working condition and complete daily safety check-off lists.
  • Maintain station control of operations, which includes machine parts to specification, inspect parts to assure the quality standards are met, identify production and quality problems and assist Group Leader/Team Leader in identifying and implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.
  • Work overtime as required/requested.
  • Follow machine repair procedures if breakdown occurs. Complete basic repairs and adjustments of minor problems. Report all machine/equipment problems to Group Leader/Team Leader in a timely fashion.
  • Perform SPC, visual and gauge inspection, complete charts and required documentation.
  • Clean the machines and surrounding work area.
  • Operate machines as assigned and assist co-workers at other workstations as needed.
  • Perform or assist in tooling/part changeovers.
  • Assist in 5S advancement
  • Assist in implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience / Skills:  
Education / Experience:
  • Employee must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Some Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend Safety instructions/policies, Control Plans, Standard Work Instructions, Inspection Reports, work orders, directions, charts and all safety regulations.
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and the ability to perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to learn and perform all jobs in assigned Cell group and rotates to each workstation as needed.
  • Ability to follow directions and flexibility to respond to problems and changes in job assignments.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Extensive standing, walking, upper body twisting, lifting, arm and hand motion, some foot motion
  • Manual dexterity
  • Manual movement of production material throughout manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs required
  • Vision abilities required include close vision.
  • Work environment is not climate controlled and subject to weather conditions which may be hot or cold.
